Sathwik Vidya program of Sathwik Bharath trust. Global guide Shriram Hegde

Shriram Hegde Global Guide - Sathwik Vidya program of Sathwik Bharath trust.
To make the most of the goodness of sleep, make a positive suggestion about when you want to wake up, just before you go to bed. You will be amazed that your subconscious mind and willpower team up as companions to help you wake up at the exact time you chose. Try it and see for yourself.

Here are the 5 simple ways to start your day to make it a great day!

1# Plan your morning. Wake up the right way and make a suggestion of positivity - that you will have a great day!

2# Start the day with simple physical exercise. Also, ensure silent time for reflective meditation to tune into stillness and focus.

3# Spend a few minutes to plan and visualise your day ahead. See how you can improve or do things differently.

4# Before you start your routine, practice simple breathing exercises to oxygenate and energize your body and mind. Breathe in, hold and breathe out, each to the count of 4. Do this 5 times.

5# Begin any activity with the thought that the divine being is providing you the source and energy to do the activity. This divine source is always with you and is the architect of your life, enabling you to achieve what you want.

*Each day you can work with success and joy in Sathwik Way*

Sathwik Vidya

Education & Self reliance Program for Development of Child
The illiterate population is one of the reasons of barrier against the entire development of a country. But this is unfortunate but true that the literacy rate of India is poor. Most of the poor, neglected day labors of villages are illiterate among them. The children of these families are engaged in various works due to the poverty from childhood. But there is no scope of education for them side by side of their work. As a result, there is a strong need of arrangement of part-time education with income generating work beside the formal and regular education in order to bring them under the net of education. Moreover there is a need of creating awareness activities widely to resist child labor and drop-out from the school with this. At present Sathwik Bharath is implementing this Sathwik Vidya program.

  Objectives-
v Bringing the deprived, dropped-out working children under the net of part-time education.
v Awareness building to re-admit the dropped-out children from the school.
v Creating awareness to the mass people of the region including guardians, working children, child on various issues like dropped-out from the school, children and women trafficking, early marriage prevention, child rights, birth registration, bird’s flue, HIV/AIDS, sanitation, and preservation of nature.
v Providing training to the earning children.
v Building the habit of savings among the working children.
v Assisting the cowboys to engage in home-gardening in order to make self reliant and to meet-up the demand of nutrition. And encourage them to plantation of forest and fruit trees in order to preserve the balance of environment.

Nelson Mandela once said: “There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children.” For those of us who can show we care, let us not bear the burden of mistreating ours.

Health and Sanitation

 Safe Water & Sanitation project:
It is necessary part for public health and environmental safety to ensure safe water, sanitation, care for personal health.  These are the issues directly involved with the development. The situation of public health sector is still in alarming conditions due to the unequal distribution of wealth, improper guidelines and absence of planning. The conditions of healthful sanitation are still far backward from the satisfactory level from the perspective of healthful latrine coverage. Uttarakannada district is no different than this. For this reason, Sathwik Bharath is playing a vital role for achieving the goal of sanitation coverage by establishing a village sanitation center, school satirization program to Sathwik childs. Sathwik Bharath is implementing this program to create the awareness for safe water distribution and the activities of sanitation and to help to set-up alternate technology for arsenic free safe water side by side.

  Objectives-
v      Ensuring safe water and sanitation system for rural population.
v      Creating awareness regarding personal health care.
v      Assisting to set-up alternate arsenic free safe water technology and cooperating for this.

Sathwik Vidya

Who is Sathwik( सात्विक) ...?

The blessed Lord said: " Fearlessness, purification of one's existence, cultivation of spiritual knowledge, charity, self - control, performance of sacrifice, austerity and simplicity; nonviolence Ahimsa, truthfulness सत्यम, freedom from anger; renunciation, who is having Peace of mind, aversion to fault finding, compassion ( pity अनुकंपा) and freedom from covetousness ( freedom from desire); gentleness, modesty( विनयशील) and steady determination, Vigor ( active strength), forgiveness, fortitude( courage in adversity प्रतिकूल) , cleanliness, freedom from envy ( jealousy ) and the passion for Honor - these transcendental qualities , oh son of Bharatha ( भारतीय पुत्र those who follow Indian culture भारतीय सिध्दांत) , belong to godly men endowed with Devine nature.

Purport:
A Sathwik सात्विक or One in the renounced order of life must be situated in Fearlessness, purity and knowledge.

Charity is meant for the householders. The householders should earn a livelyhood by an honorable means and spend 10 percent of their income to propagate Sathwik consciousness all over the world. This a householder गृहस्थ should give in Charity to such institutions, societies that are engaged in that way. Charity should be given to the right receiver.

Three items namely charity, sense control and performance of sacrifice are meant for the householder ( गृहस्थ).

Ahimsa nonviolence means not arresting the progressive life of any living entity. One should not think there is no harm in killing animals for sense gratification. People are now addicted to eating animals, In spite of having ample supply of food grains, fruits and milk. There is no necessity for animal killing.
So their progress should not be checked simply to satisfy one's palate. This is called Ahimsa.

Satyam सत्यम । This word means that one should not distort the truth for some personal interest. One should not construe  some interpretation for his personal interest.

Akrodhah अक्रोधा means to check anger. Even if there is provocation one should be tolerant, for once one become angry his whole body becomes polluted. Anger is the product of the modes of passion and lust, so one should check himself from the anger.

One should not find fault with others or correct them unnecessarily. One should be modest and must not perform some act which is abominable.

Determination, means that one should not be agitated or frustrated in some in the some attempt. There may be failure in some attempt. But one should not be sorry for that ; he should make progress with patience and determination.

Cleanliness शोचम means cleanliness, not only in the mind and body but in once dealings also.

All these qualifications mentioned are Sathwik qualities. They should be cultivated according to the different statuses of the social order. The purport is that even though material conditions are miserable, if these qualities are developed by practice, by all classes of man, then gradually it is possible to rise to the highest platform of Sathwik nature.

How is Sathwik nature ? ( सात्विक गुण)
#
तत्रा सत्वम निर्मलतवात प्रकाशक मनामायम।
सुक संगेन बड़नाती जना संगन चानाघ।

Oh sinless one (पाप रहित),  the mode of goodness सात्विक गुण, being purer than the others, is illuminating( throw light on), and it frees one from all sinful reactions. Those situated in that mode develop knowledge, but they become conditioned by the concept of happiness.

सतवम सूखे संजयती
Oh son of Bharatha " The mode of good ness ( सात्विक गुण की) conditions one to happiness."

Coronavirus: How to cook, eat and store food during the pandemic, according to WHO

With the number of coronavirus cases crossing 4 million worldwide, people across the globe are trying to be extra careful every day. Masks, gloves and sanitisers are regular domestic objects now. But one thing many seem to be concerned about is food. And while there is no evidence that COVID-19 can be transmitted through food, the WHO has issued guidelines to help keep food safer in these times. After all, a little extra safety can't hurt.
Apply that rule to cooking and eating as well.  Along with making sure that you wash your hands before handling food, also wash and sanitise surfaces and equipment used for food preparation. This will help eliminate any potentially harmful microorganisms from your food.  In preparing and storing food, make sure to separate raw meat and fish from other foods. Designate a separate cutting board and knives for raw foods to avoid any intermingling.

Raw meat and seafood can contain dangerous microorganisms, so store them in containers to keep them isolated from other foods.  Cook all foods- meat, seafood as well as vegetarian dishes- really well. This will help kill dangerous microorganisms, making the food safer for consumption. If you plan to eat something out of the refrigerator, make sure to reheat it so it is steaming hot.

Cook all foods- meat, seafood as well as vegetarian dishes- really well. This will help kill dangerous microorganisms, making the food safer for consumption. If you plan to eat something out of the refrigerator, make sure to reheat it so it is steaming hot.  Practising safety when storing food is equally important. Refrigerate all cooked and perishable foods and avoid leaving cooked food at room temperature for too long.

Heat food well prior to serving and refrigerate leftovers immediately.  Microorganisms can multiply fast at room temperature, but at temperatures below 5°C or above 60°C, their growth slows down or stops.  When purchasing produce or meat, make sure it is safe and fresh. Wash fruits and vegetables with clean water, especially if they are to be consumed raw.

For packaged foods, take the time to check the labels and avoid consuming anything beyond expiry.  Even raw materials like water and ice can sometimes be contaminated with unwanted microorganisms and chemicals. So make sure to use water that is safe, or treat it to make it safe for consumption.

Migrant workers.. International standard

International Labour Standards on Migrant workers

The growing pace of economic globalization has created more migrant workers than ever before. Unemployment and increasing poverty have prompted many workers in developing countries to seek work elsewhere. It is estimated that 73 per cent of migrants are workers. In industrialized countries, demand for labour, especially unskilled labour, has increased. As a result, millions of workers and their families travel to countries other than their own to find work. Considerable efforts have been made over recent years to obtain reliable and comparable data on labour migration. However, as noted by the ILO and the international community, there remain significant gaps. In response, the ILO has published global and regional estimates of migrant workers. According to these estimates, there are at present approximately 244 million migrants around the world, representing 3.3 per cent of the global population. Women make up almost half of migrants. (Note 1) Migrant workers contribute to the economies of their host countries, and the remittances they send home help to boost the economies of their countries of origin. Yet, migrant workers often benefit from inadequate social protection and are vulnerable to exploitation and human trafficking. Skilled migrant workers are less vulnerable to exploitation, but their departure deprives some developing countries of the valuable labour needed for their own economies. ILO standards on migration provide tools for both countries of origin and of destination to manage migration flows and ensure adequate protection for this vulnerable category of workers.

Relevant ILO instruments
Migration for Employment Convention (Revised), 1949 (No. 97)  - [ratifications ]
Requires ratifying states to facilitate international migration for employment by establishing and maintaining a free assistance and information service for migrant workers and taking measures against misleading propaganda relating to emigration and immigration. Includes provisions on appropriate medical services for migrant workers and the transfer of earnings and savings. States have to apply treatment no less favourable that that which applies to their own nationals in respect to a number of matters, including conditions of employment, freedom of association and social security.
Migrant Workers (Supplementary Provisions) Convention, 1975 (No. 143)  - [ratifications ]
Provides for measures to combat clandestine and illegal migration while at the same time setting forth the general obligation to respect the basic human rights of all migrant workers. It also extends the scope of equality between legally resident migrant workers and national workers beyond the provisions of the 1949 Convention to ensure equality of opportunity and treatment in respect of employment and occupation, social security, trade union and cultural rights, and individual and collective freedoms for persons who as migrant workers or as members of their families are lawfully within a ratifying state's territory. Calls upon ratifying states to facilitate the reunification of families of migrant workers legally residing in their territory.
